Brief update on month 1 and 2.

All contributions made, which is the whole point.

I’m unsure of the best way to actually frame this, as I don’t want to use the exact financials. I’ll do a cumulative percentage gain on the whole portfolio at the end of each month. Later when there’s more data I’ll do annualised return and standard deviation.

Portfolio End July: -0.44%

Portfolio End August: 1.03%

What I have noticed in contrast to having a broking account with individual stocks, is the lack of interest. There’s no fund watching. There’s a little urge to market time around buy time, but every time when the contribution has hit the account I place the limit order and leave it be.

Until next month, listen to your adviser and remain disciplined!

Disclaimer: The discipline project is a personal endeavour and should not be constituted as a financial strategy that anyone should follow. It is more a study in repetition and shutting out the noise in pursuing a financial goal, than any focus on portfolio construction. Anyone looking to build a portfolio should seek financial advice to find out which strategy is right for them, if you are seeking financial advice then you should consider one of Australia’s best financial advisors who may be able to help you identify your goals and put in place a reliable strategy to pursue them.
